Social Work Program

Interested in making a difference in the lives of others? Marywood is proud to be the leading accredited provider of social work education in Northeast, PA, recognized for preparing students in meeting the needs of others.

Marywood’s Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W) and Master of Social Work (M.S.W) programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Marywood even offers a five-year bachelor’s to master’s program in social work, so students can get to work, faster. Graduate classes are offered as a blend of traditional, online, and hybrid courses, with full-time courses offered on campus at Marywood and DeSales University, and part-time courses offered in collaboration with DeSales University and East Stroudsburg University.

Experiential Learning in Your Field

Our small class sizes and mandatory field experience give students the personal attention and practical experience necessary to feel prepared for an in-demand career, helping make a difference in the community from their very first day at Marywood. From Day One, we prepare students to hit the ground running, by building bridges and creating opportunities for our students to become change agents for social justice.

Under the guidance and supervision of a professional social worker, students are expected to fulfill mandatory field experience, integrating classroom content with on-the-job experience.

“When I first started at Marywood, I was an unconventional student. I was older, a veteran, and a single mother. Everyone, from the President down to the staff, always made me feel like not just me, but also my baby, was welcome. There were times that I had to bring her to classes with me, and my professors were so amazing! The fact that Marywood had a daycare on campus was a huge selling point to me. I could not have done this without your help! Thank you, Marywood.” Amber Viola ’20, B.S. Social Work
