Sister Annmarie Sanders, IHM serves as the President of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Scranton, Pennsylvania, as well as the pontifical commissary for the Sisters of St. Casimir.
Sister Annmarie has spent a good portion of her ministerial life working on behalf of religious life. She worked in Lima, Peru for Latinamerica Press/Noticias Aliadas while studying to work in initial formation through the Peruvian religious conference (CONFER) and serving on her congregation’s vocation/formation team. Upon returning to the United States, she served for 10 years as the communications director for the IHM Congregation, and 23 years as the communications director for the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) in Silver Spring, Maryland, the professional organization for leaders of nearly 300 institutes of Catholic sisters. Her earlier ministries were in social work and university public relations, including service at Marywood University.
Sister Annmarie holds a bachelor of social work degree from Marywood College and a master of arts degree in public communications from Fordham University. She offers retreats and presentations and has authored articles and edited books on religious life, communications, spirituality, and other topics.
